On Wednesday Lyfe Jennings was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for a 2008 incident that found Jennings arrested and charged with felony weapon possession by a convicted felon after kicking in the door of his former girlfriend/manager and mother of his 3 children, Joy Bounds, firing gun shots into the home, and leading police on a high speed chase in his Corvette. Jennings had previously served a little over 10 years for arson. Upon his release he became an overnight success where with guitar in hand when he wowed Apollo’s Amateur Night audience with his singing thus resulting in a recording contract. At his hearing, Jennings tearfully apologized and requested to spend time with his 3 children before imprisonment but was denied and led away to begin his sentence. BET correspondent Jeff Johnson aka “Cousin Jeff” spoke on Jennings behalf. Hold your head Lyfe. - ICE
