Former Yankee manager Joe Torre stepped down as manager of the LA Dodgers yesterday and will be replaced by former Yankee All Star first baseman and my favorite baseball player of all time Don Mattingly. The irony of Mattingly replacing Torre is that after Mattingly’s legendary but World Series-less Yankee career (a strike that may never allow him a Hall Of Fame induction), Torre led the Yankees to it’s first of 5 World Series wins during his tenure. Mattingly known affectionately as “Donnie Baseball” & “The Hitman” for his proficiency at the plate served as hitting coach as a Yankee & bench coach with the Dodgers, both under Torre – ICE
