A new biography detailing Jay-Z’s his hustling days in Marcy to his astronomical rise to fame & fortune titled Empire State of Mind: How Jay-Z Went From Street Corner to Corner Office is slated to hit book shelves this month. Written by journalist and Forbes staff writer Zack O’Malley Greenburg, the biography contains personal accounts from the rappers childhood friends turned adulthood foes Jaz-O & DeHaven who recalls a young Shawn Carter via familiar and never before heard stories such as a teenage Jay shooting his crack addicted brother for stealing his jewelry, ducking shots from a TEC-9 by a disrespected fellow drug dealer and being a resourceful hustler who never gave credit to fiends or surplus to workers in his and DeHaven’s fledging NY/NJ/Maryland/Virginia cocaine operation that had them flippin a ki(lo) a week.
