Kanye West landed on top of the Billboard charts selling 518K in the first week of his My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy release and Nicki Minaj took the 2nd spot selling 371k off her Pink Friday debut album marking a great 1 2 punch for Hip Hop during some tough economical times for not only the music industry but the country as a whole. The two knocked off Kanye’s old friend Taylor Swift who came in at third with her Speak Now LP that previously eclipsed the million mark in it’s first week. Aside from Ye’s no.1 position, Island Def jam represented heavily on the charts with Rihanna, Justin Beiber, & Ne-Yo occupying the 6th,7th, & 8th positions.
